We Have Exciting News

Starting on Thursday, March 12th, Dr. Oberthaler and her Treeline Veterinary Cancer Care team will be seeing cancer patients on Thursdays here at On-Site Veterinary. This partnership will bring better access to specialty cancer care for our clients, patients, and the Vail Valley communities.

To book an appointment, please contact Treeline Veterinary Cancer Care directly at 720-432-8680 (call or text) or email info@treelinevet.com.

Dr. Karen Oberthaler is a board-certified veterinary oncologist and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology). She provides personalized cancer consultations and treatments for dogs and cats, including chemotherapy, Palladia, immunotherapy, the melanoma vaccine, and other emerging therapies.

Dr. Oberthaler graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. She completed an internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City, followed by an oncology residency at the University of Pennsylvania, which she completed in 2006. She also earned her undergraduate degree in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

After more than a decade of practice in large specialty hospitals in New York City and Miami, Dr. Oberthaler relocated to Colorado and co-founded Treeline Veterinary Cancer Care in Boulder in 2020. Treeline Vet was created to offer a more intimate, thoughtful, and personalized approach to cancer care. Dr. Oberthaler recognized a significant unmet need on the western slope, seeing how many families struggled to travel to the front range for specialty oncology services. She is excited to bring board-certified, personalized cancer care closer to home through Treeline’s collaboration with On-Site Veterinary.

Dr. Oberthaler’s goal is consistent across all locations: providing pets with cancer access to the most advanced treatments available and supporting families so they can truly focus on what matters most – their pet.
