Dog Nail Trim

Your dog’s nails should be trimmed anywhere from once monthly to once every three months, depending on how fast they grow and how much wear they experience. An appropriate nail length should be maintained to prevent the development of abnormal posture or pain caused by nails pressing back up into the toe pads when your dog walks. Before you start trimming, make sure you get your dog comfortable both with having their paws touched and the sight of the clippers if they aren’t already. Using plenty of treats is encouraged! We generally use the clippers that we have linked below, and we recommend the use of Kwik-Stop, also linked, in case of any bleeding. If your dog is smaller and you don’t want to use the larger clippers, feel free to navigate to our recommendation for cat claw clippers, which ought to work just as well.
