A physical exam is much more than a quick look-over. It is one of the most important tools veterinarians have for detecting illness early and for mapping a treatment plan or diagnostic work-up. While the exam can have many different names and purposes – such as annual exam, pre-surgical exam, progress exam, pre-purchase exam – they are all performed in the same way for thorough care.
